Le Bon Genre

Etiquette and Regulations

By Le Bon Genre, we understand a magnificent ball week that celebrates the historical authenticity and elegance of the Rococo epoch. To ensure these festive days become an unforgettable and harmonious experience for all guests, we kindly ask you to observe the following conventions and organizational deadlines.

Rules of the Bon Ton

  • To ensure the magnificent execution of the Grand Masked Ball, we kindly ask for your timely booking. Official advance ticket sales begin on September 1, 2026.
  • The minimum number of participants for the ball is 50 persons by December 31, 2026.
  • The Art of Gallantry: Approach all guests of the ball week with that timeless gallantry and courteous politeness that make social interaction in the 18th century so incomparably delightful.
  • The Game of Society: Mingle freely among the guests. Whether during the shared supper, the promenade, or in the casino – forging new acquaintances and stimulating conversation are the true spirit of Le Bon Genre.
  • Photographs & Court Painter: To preserve the illusion of the era, we kindly ask that mobile phones be silenced in the hall and used only discreetly. Since we dispense with a dedicated "court painter," we are all the more grateful to every guest who captures the finest moments and shares them with society in our photo album.
  • Culinary & Own Account: Apart from the provided refreshment water at the dance classes, the hot chocolate (cioccolata calda), and our festive flying buffet at the ball, please note that all other or self-ordered food and beverages (such as during refreshment stops) are to be settled directly by each guest.
  • Baroque Means of Payment: Since modern card tricks fail within these historic walls, we kindly ask you to always carry a sufficiently filled purse of cash for personal consumption and expenses.
  • Appreciation through Punctuality: Since the various divertissements, classes, and excursions of the week are finely coordinated with one another, punctual attendance is a sign of respect toward the organizers and society.
  • Freedom of the Carnevale: At our festivity, there is no distinction of station and rank. Every guest contributes to the magnificent success of these days and is cordially invited to abandon themselves freely to the merry proceedings.
Notice Regarding Refunds

Should the minimum number of participants unexpectedly not be reached and the event have to be canceled on our part, the fee you paid will of course be fully and unconditionally refunded.

Dress Code Around 1750

Historical attire is desired for our Rococo week. Absolute perfection is not required; the joy of appearance and respect for the epoch are paramount. The following styles serve to finely distinguish the occasions:

De Cour • Court Fashion

Ladies: Wide hoop skirts (paniers), fitted bodices with square necklines and decorated stomachers. Heavy silks and brocades.

Gentlemen: Knee-length, richly decorated justaucorps over a contrasting waistcoat. Accompanied by culottes, smooth silk stockings, jabot, powdered wig, and a sword worn at the side.

De Promenade • Outing Fashion

Ladies: Reduced skirt volume, often looped-up overskirts for greater freedom of movement. Necklines covered by fichus or mantelets, accompanied by flat straw hats (bergère).

Gentlemen: Softer falling coats in muted colors, simpler waistcoats. The tricorne hat is worn or tucked under the arm, and a walking stick serves as an accessory.

De Bal • Ball Fashion

Ladies: Mandatory smaller pocket hoops (poschen) for freedom of movement, floor-length skirts, and a fitted bodice. The powdered hairstyle must remain strictly danceable (no extreme tower hairstyles). Lightweight dancing shoes (Louis heels).

Gentlemen: Closely tailored, openly worn justaucorps, gilet, and culottes. White shirt with fine lace cuffs, powdered wig (mandatory!), and heeled dancing shoes. The tricorne hat must not be worn inside the hall.

The Play of Masks

Masks are not compulsory at the ball. However, a matching historical mask is expressly recommended for the carefree activities of the Carnevale and enriches the atmosphere.
